Our favorite game, Catan

We laughed our way through a game of Catan. There was a fierce battle for the longest road card, 2 victory points! Rachael won with 13 "roads".

Hunter's 14th birthday

Hunter opens birthday gifts from Strifler's and G & G Baker.

hot tubbin'

During the Strifler's visit we enjoyed a stay at the Holiday Inn hot tub. Our exceedingly long winter has caused cabin fever, the hot tub cured us for awhile. Notice the amount of snow on the patio! It's windy too.

My valentine!

plush smiling friends

Here's the smiling stuffed bunch on Elliot's bed. The were arranged special for Rachael's visit.

Valentine's day dinner

Rachael, Hunter & Elliot prepared and served our valentine's dinner Sunday evening. Dad grilled the steaks and the rest was made by Hunter. Mucho bien!

overlander breakfast

For history we have been studying the 1840's Westward expansion of the US. Elliot enjoyed an overlanders breakfast, complete with johnny cake, bacon and coffee (well, not including the coffee!). The overlanders rarely drank plain water, since it was usually muddy or polluted, and tasted so disgusting even the animals refused it! Be thankful for your clean tap or bottled water!

science class "air car"

Elliot has been doing several science projects. He made an air car to test friction. The car was made from an empty spool of thread (whew! emptying the spool was the most fun) , cardboard, lots of glue and a balloon. The air car "floated" along the desk top with less friction as the balloon deflated. As it was pushed, the air car moved very little without the balloon.

Elliot changes a tire

The roads in Omaha are cracking and pothole ridden. This week Alex got a flat tire from hitting a deep pothole coming home from work. Not good.

Having a handy husband is very nice. He went to work. First getting the spare from the trunk, which is the hardest part. And then teaching Elliot to do the rest. It's an amazing opportunity everyday to teach and prepare our kids for the real world. Including flat tires and how to change them.
